Hi everyone,
Welcome back. With the 30 new schools coming on board now I am hoping that we can use this medium to support a more meaningful collaboration as we seek to enhance the teaching and learning experiences of Jamaican teachers and students.
I think that if we can just post some of our best (and worst) practices, comments regarding the use of particular strategies and types of technology, suggestions for dealing with particular topics from the curriculum, the sum of the experiences of all of us will be greatly improved. Others can learn from your experiences and avoid making the same mistakes you made.

Workshop Feedback

Well the workshop has come and gone, and I believe most of us who participated left with a satisfied feeling. Most of our objectives were met and the responses I got from those present suggest that everyone had a good time.
I would appreciate some early feedback on ways in which the training received at this workshop has impacted on you as individuals and the difference it is making/will make at your school.

Workshop Set

Hi everyone, just want to let you know that the plans for the workshop are now final. March 16 - 18. At this workshop we will be running three concurrent sessions. Group 1 will deal with websites, Group 2 with troubleshooting and maintenance and Group 3 with Integrative teaching strategies.
Those responsible for the websites will come in at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday and the others will come in anytime after 4:00 p.m. on the same day. We expect to leave by 3:00 p.m. on Friday the 18th.
Don't forget to take along the equipment and materials needed for the workshop as usual.
Please check the website, email us or phone in for more details. However, somebody should be calling your school soon with a reminder.

Hello PESP IT Team. It is great that we can communicate through technology. I hope we will make every ues of the opportunity, as we seek to strengthen the link among the schools. It is our wish at St. Johns that the relationship established with these other school and the PSEP team will grow from strengt to strength. We hope that we will be able to share ideas also via the technology as we seek to integrate technology into the teaching learning process.

Innovations in learning at the PESP IT Schools

Hello to all PESP IT Pilot School personnel
This is really a very good way to develop an on-line culture. We really can do alot to develop a culture of Technology use by using this blog to share our experiences. I for my part would like to see the posting of trials , successes, not so successful trials, lesson plan ideas, and other avenues of exploration being discussed.
Let's use this up.

P.S. We take this opportunity to inform and remind all of the upcoming workshop that will be held from March 16 - 18 at the Village Hotel in Ocho Rios St. Ann. The agenda will soon be published.
The workshop will address computer trouble shooting and maintenance, further training in web site development and use of the newly delivered Kidspiration software. Please take samples of the students work as we will also have a session on maximising the use of the blog as well as a session on showing some best practices.

Its the strategies that count

For primary school teachers, one of the most difficult parts of integrating technology into teaching/learning is trying to get it to "fit into" their lessons.
The problem with this is that in order for technology to "fit into" the lessons that most of our teachers prepare there has to be a lot of preparation time which primary school teachers simply do not have. As a result, the technology is put on hold while the class goes on.
For technology to become effectively integrated into the learning process, we will need to change our teaching strategies so that technology does not have to "fit into" the lessons but it will become a seamless part of the lessons themselves.
Let's see if we can suggest some ways of using the technology to support multiple intelligences, constructivist, and multigrade teaching.

Hi everyone. I am sitting in an e-learning session in the Multimedia lab at Caenwood. It is being conducted by Jill Jodrey from Simon Fraser University in Canada. Just completed a session on using blogs and I am really happy for this.
Karen from St. Johns introduced me to this before but I really didn't fully understand its potential until now.
I think we can begin to use this as a means of sharing our experiences, ideas and suggestions with each other and thereby, enrich the potentials of this pilot.
